CHRISTMAS GREETING FROM COM0X, BRITISH COLUMBIA

Hard to believe that it’s time to write the Christmas letter. Wasn’t it just the other day that we sent the 2024 edition? However, we know that time does indeed fly by.

Let’s look at the family news. The major news from Edmonton was the arrival of the first of the fourth generation - Daphne Eleanor - who arrived on February 12th - which is pretty special.  




Our first sighting was on the Fall when we had a major Thanksgiving get together in Victoria. We met in Alexander’s basement apartment which was large enough to seat everyone around three tables, Andrew and Debbie, Erin,Todd and Daphne, Alexander and Kyra and her parents from Elie, Manitoba, Tim and Aileen, Kieran, Tristan and Clare. The majority met the next day at Tristan and Clare’s apartment.

We had two major trips. The first was to see David and Sam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. On the way home we stopped off in Istanbul and England. You can read more about this on the Saudi Arabia, Istanbul and England Blog.

NOVA SCOTIA, ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND 2024

NOVA SCOTIA, ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND 2024  For our Fall trip we travelled to Nova Scotia to see Philip and Yvonne, England where  we met up with some of the King Clan in Harpenden, Val and family in Balsall Common, Anthony in Derby and the Webbs in Marple before moving on to Glasgow, Oban, Inverness and Edinburgh.  Leaving from Comox Airport we flew into Vancouver.  We boarded our plane to Montreal where we were going to connect with the flight to Halifax.  Philip and Yvonne had donated their Aeroplan points for Business Class.  All going well, but as we settled in we were told to deplane as that plane wasn't going anywhere.    It had just arrived in from Montreal but the pilot decided to call it a day for technical reasons.  We awaited instructions and the best they could do was book us the next day direct to Halifax after putting us up for ...

UIK and Europe 2023

UK AND EUROPE 2023 COMOX TO DERBY In September we travelled to the UK to visit with family and continued on to France, Italy and Switzerland. We left from Comox Airport for Vancouver and on to London  Heathrow with Air Canada. That part went according to plan, it was after that that things became a bit more complicated.  The UK had been suffering from sporadic rail strikes for quite a while. The last time we travelled to the UK in 2022 we hit a strike that messed up our plans.  Lo and behold the same thing happened again this time and we landed on a strike day.  We had rail tickets to Derby but fortunately there was a reduced service on Easy Midlands Railway.   Things picked up a little as we were able to catch the scheduled Derby train.  Anthony was waiting for us.
